The staff identifies these students and they are granted certain rights to help them succeed in school. In the absence of an approved transfer, students are expected to attend school in the attendance area in which they reside. As a member of the Bakersfield Kern Regional Collaboration for the Homeless (BKRHC), the goal of DHS is to help all communities in Kern County end homelessness by providing a clear and systematic pattern to help people quickly access the most appropriate services available through standardized access, a standardized evaluation process, and a coordinated referral (matching) process.
